The Mystery Cafe isn't really a restaurant. It is a dinner theater show inside the Elephant and Castle Restaurant in Boston. These shows, just like corporate events and conferences can be notorious for not thinking about vegetarians and vegans. Often, at a company holiday party, I've asked for a vegetarian option and got "the look". After, the staff debated they'd bring me a plate of pasta- the kind that looks like Suddenly Salad in a box. Yum. I learned to eat before attending these kinds of events.
But, it seems like the times are changing! Hotels and Catering Services are starting to get it. The Elephant and Pub, where the Mystery Cafe performs their new show, Murder Most Medieval, offers a full buffet menu with a Vegetarian Entree and other Vegan options. It isn't gourmet, but it is very good. For once, you can enjoy a dinner and show without going hungry!
I've pasted the Vegan and Vegetarian Menu options below. This isn't fine dining. As a fun twist, the actors do double duty and serve your food. Remember, your ticket includes the meal and the performance, so the price isn't bad for all that atmosphere :)
